About Me

My Mom and Dad immigrated to Canada from Iran (Persia). They tried for 13 years to have kids with different infertility treatments with no success and were told thay could not have children. Three months later my parents found out that my mom was pregnent with me. My Parents were in shock and disbelief, but so happy and excited.
Because my Mom’s membrane ruptured at 26 weeks gestation I was born 3 months premature on Sept 3, 2008 at 3:30 PM in McMaster Children Hospital. I weighed 900 grams and was 35 cm long. They named me Amirreza (Amir means prince and Reza means satisfied, happy, approval).
But my story just started. With being premature, I had Hydrocephalus which may lead to cerebral palsy, impaired cognitive skills, vision problems and/or hearing problems.
This information worried my parents. The Doctor recommended for me to have VP Shunt which was instered on Nov 21, 2008 and I was sent home on Dec 18, 2008.
I had a rough start for first few years of my life. However, now I can walk and I speak 2 languages, Persian and English.
I started school at age 4 and I am in grade one. I love school and I love to learn new things everyday. My teachers are happy about my learning and progress. All this happened because my parents never gave up, believed that I would be ok and helped me to get where I am today. Also my sitter who is my second mom did a lot for me, with her loving and caring touch.
I still have lots of follow up appointments, but I am so happy with my parents.
